King fung

Picture 176, originally uploaded by aznkey.

A hole in the wall, King Fung is perhaps the smallest chinese sit down restaurant i've been in. The capacity of the place probably fit no more than 25 with 4 booth and a large rectangular table. The outside was no better. A tiny reddish shack off to the side of a busy Boston street corner. But whatever, like the Michelin I am here for the FOOD, and only that.

We called in the day ahead to order our three course peking duck meal.

Our server first brought out the whole roasted duck to show us before it was carved. The first course was the crispy skin of the duck served with Chinese pancakes. Aside from taste a good indication of good peking duck is how well it's roasted and carved. The skin should be nice and crispy and there should be no fat or meat on it. The picture above is the ideal piece peking duck. You wrap the skin with scallion and hoisen sauce in a warm flour pancake. Yum. Certainly one of the better peking ducks i've had.
